Ross Ulbricht is on trial for allegedly being the mastermind behind illegal drug operation Silk Road. He is facing multiple serious charges in connection to Silk Road that could result in possible life imprisonment.

Defense of Ross Ulbricht has pointed out to Mark Karpeles, CEO of now-defunct Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox as the person responsible for the billion-dollar operation of the online marketplace for illegal drugs while Karpeles immediately issued a denial.

During a cross-examination of a federal agent Jared Der-Yeghiayan who investigated Silk Road, Ulbricht's defense showed old emails wherein Der-Yeghiayan believed that the Bitcoin CEO was 'Dread Pirate Roberts' which was a pseudonym used by the Silk Road head and a reference to the Rob Reiner film 'The Princess Bride'. He said that he had abundance of evidence that could prove that Mark Karpeles is Dread Pirate Roberts.
