BiteCounter: Keep a Track of What You Eat
Those who are worried over the quantity of food that they are eating can now track their eating habits thanks to a new device created by a professor at Clemson University, the Bite Counter.
The gadget works on a principle similar to a pedometer and counts the number of bites taken by a visitor by tracking the motion of the wearer’s hand. The device then calculates the number of calories consumed using a formula similar to a pedometer that counts how many calories are burnt when walking.

Clemson University’s Dr Eric Muth designed the device along with his colleague, Adam Hoover. The researchers added that the device can also be used to set a calorie limit after which the gadget emits an alarm if the bite limit is crossed.

“The device only requires that the user press a button to turn it on before eating and press the button again after the meal or snack is done. In between, the device automatically counts how many bites have been eaten”, Hoover said.
