A blood donation camp was recently organised in Jorhat, Assam in order to inculcate the importance of donating blood among youngsters. The camp was organised by the student's body of Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Jorhat in association with Jorhat Medical College and Hospital and Red Cross Society, Jorhat.
A large number of students turned out to donate blood for the cause to save lives of needy people.
"We had visited the Jorhat Medical College and it was in an appalling state, as the number of blood units was almost nil. In our university, we are trying to inculcate this sacrificial habit. People are ready to save lives by donating blood," said Bobby Borah, Assistant Professor, AAU.
The donors supported the noble cause wholeheartedly.
"Today, blood donation is very important, as a student it is the first step of healing the world. It is the least I can do in one way. I am glad to be a part of this camp," said Flora Paite, a blood donor.
"I think it is a noble cause and we have to go for it, especially as youngsters. This is the need of the hour and we should promote such activities," P. Shekhar, another donor.
