Botox Approved for Treating Overactive Bladder
The European Union has cleared the way for Botox to be used for treating patients suffering from urinary incontinence while its manufacturer said that it expects to gain a similar approval in the United States by the end of this year.
Developed by California based Allergan Inc, Botox is widely used to smoothen the wrinkles with the company announcing annual sales of over $1.5 billion.

While Botox is generally used for cosmetic purposes, it has also been approved to treat migraines, neck and eye muscle problems, excessive sweating and upper limb spasticity.

The approval by EU will now allow the company to market the drug for treating urinary incontinence among 14 European countries while its sales could be further boosted should the US Food and Drug Administration approve its use in the American market.
