A group of British researchers has developed a brain stimulator that they claim will help increase the efficiency of the brain and also help tennis players and pianists to perform better. The device works by shooting an electric current in the brain with researchers stating that this will help people to learn motor skills faster and make them become better athletes, musicians or improve their academic skills.
The researchers added that this could also help the recovery process of stroke patients.
Lead researcher Professor Heidi Johansen-Berg said that using the device when learning new skills will make people learn them better and faster. “The reason that it's effective isn't that the stimulation itself is some kind of magic, but that when you learn you strengthen the connections between brain cells. We would predict that any task requiring motor learning would be affected by this type of stimulation”, he said.
