47-year-old Carole Budding was told by doctors that there was not much they could do for her brain tumors and that she had just about a year of life left. However Carol has now made an amazing recovery and doctors were not able to find any of the four of the malignant growths in her most recent scan.
Another tumor has now shrunk to the size of a pinhead and poses no danger to her life. "I was thinking I was going to die in a few weeks, then suddenly I wasn't - I seemed to be getting better, but death was always there. That's been the most difficult thing to come to terms with," Mrs Budding told the Bristol Evening Post. "After a year of facing death, I still have my shutters down. I'm scared to celebrate in case it comes back."Doctors at Bristol Royal Infirmary believe that 10 sessions of radiotherapy may have shrunk the tumors. However Carole met a stranger who gave her two religious medals early on when her treatment started, "We're not religious, but when you're in the situation that we were in, you'd be stupid not to believe in anything that might help you," she revealed.
A full body scan has confirmed that she currently has no other tumors. The brain tumors developed after she recovered from breast cancer in 2004.
