However Carol has now made an amazing recovery and doctors were not able to find any of the four of the malignant growths in her most recent scan.
Another tumor has now shrunk to the size of a pinhead and poses no danger to her life. "I was thinking I was going to die in a few weeks, then suddenly I wasn't - I seemed to be getting better, but death was always there. That's been the most difficult thing to come to terms with," Mrs Budding told the Bristol Evening Post. "After a year of facing death, I still have my shutters down. I'm scared to celebrate in case it comes back."
