Elizabeth Adeney is Britain's oldest mother at 66 years old and has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Ms Adeney delivered by caesarean section and conceived the child through IVF. She beats the record set by Patti Farrant, who became Britain's oldest mother three years ago at the age of 62.Ms Adeney had the IVF treatment in Ukraine as hospitals in Britain do not treat women aged over 50. Her marriage broke up after she was unable to have children despite IVF treatment two decades ago. She has stayed away from the media glare and has been reluctant to discuss the debate of age and motherhood.
"It's not physical age that is important - it’s how I feel inside. Some days I feel 39. Others, I feel 56," she said recently.
Ms Adeney is expected to return to her job as managing director of Delmore Ltd after she returns home from the hospital.
