The 23-year-old royal, who missed out on going to Iraq may undertake a mission with MapAction focussed on helping during humanitarian disasters.
Clarence House said no deployment had been confirmed, but it did not rule out Harry’s involvement with the project.
"It's an idea we'd like to think is possible, but there are no definite plans," a spokesman said. "Harry would love to go."MapAction provides up-to-date maps for aid workers in times of disaster. They work to highlight areas where medical help is needed.
Last night the prince attended a reception to mark 50 missions since Map Action's first to Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami.
