Brit women love TV shows so much that they either put off or speed up sex to make sure that they don't miss even a minute of their favourite soaps.

Brit women love TV shows so much that they either put off or speed up sex to make sure that they don't miss even a minute of their favourite soaps.

A new poll reveals that goggle-eyed viewers regularly shun family, friends and partners to avoid missing their top shows.

According to the poll, almost a fifth of the total respondents would give up the chance of a romp in favour of slumping in front of 'Sex And The City'.

Others plan annual holidays around the TV schedules or lie to friends about being busy so they can avoid a night out, the study revealed.

It showed TV is now more important than religion as a source of guidance for 56 per cent of viewers.

Telecoms firm Tiscali which quizzed 1,600 adults, found 17 per cent of women aged 16 to 24 will either race through sex or put it off altogether to get in front of the TV in time.

More than half of women in this age group watch episodes of their favourite programmes at least five times.

And 20 per cent admit they suffer from "Remote Rage" if they don't have the TV control.

Twelve per cent of all viewers say they get more pleasure from TV than spending time with friends and family.

"Loyal fans let little stand in the way of seeing their favourite show," The Sun Tiscali TV director Simon Hunt, as saying.
