There is an alarming rise of gambling and gamblers in Britain. A study reveals that Englishmen prefer to spend more on gambling and casinos then on vegetables and fruits.
On an average, £800 per year per person has been spent on gambling in United Kingdom. Online gambling has also increased the number of gamblers over a period of time. The British medical Association (BMA) has expressed its apprehensions and fears about teenagers getting addicted to this habit. An analysis has revealed that 17% of adolescents play these games on a weekly basis while 6% of them are obsessive gamblers.
The BMA states that there has not been any major opposition to this trend except a mild one from Salvation Army and Methodists.
According to BMA, the number of health issues related to problem gamblers is bound to increase with the addition of slot machines everyday. If this trend continues it is sure to have ruinous effect on the society as a whole.
