Britons Cannot Make Up Mind on Smoking Ban

A survey carried out by the Office for National Statistics has found that many Britons are divided over the issue of banning smoking at pubs and other public places.

A survey carried out by the Office for National Statistics has found that many Britons are divided over the issue of banning smoking at pubs and other public places.

Some 93% agreed smoking should be banned in restaurants, while 85% said there should be no smoking in workplaces, railway and bus stations.

The ONS also found that just 67% wanted to kick the butt in 2008-09; down from 74% in 2007.Another finding was that 71% said they did not smoke if kids were in the same room. This figure has increased from 54% in 2007.

In the UK, smoke-free legislation came into force in July 2007.
