By 2020, Smoking in Public Likely to be Completely Banned in U.S

Reports indicate that by the year 2020, there could possibly be a nationwide ban on smoking outside the house. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has speeded up its drive against smoking in public and estimates that by 2020, every state may have a ban on smoking in restaurants, bars, and the workplace.

"It is by no means a foregone conclusion that we'll get there by 2020," director of the CDC's Office on Smoking and Health, New York Daily quoted Dr. Tim McAfee as telling a foreign news agency.

"I'm relatively bullish we'll at least get close to that number," he added.

New York City has already banned butts in public buildings, restaurants, city parks, beaches and the pedestrian plaza in Times Square.

In addition, 25 states have also prohibited indoor smoking.

However, seven states that have no restrictions are Texas, West Virginia, Wyoming, South Carolina, Mississippi, Kentucky and Indiana.
