Recently, nurses are being trained to use a solution of table vinegar to spot cancer. This method is useful in developing countries, especially in remote areas where laboratory facilities may not be available.

Vinegar is brushed into the cervix. Vinegar turns the precancerous lesions into white which can be spotted with the naked eye. The advantage is that, during the same session, the lesions can be frozen using a metal rod that is allowed to cool in a carbon dioxide tank.

This inexpensive and easy to use screening test has been effectively used in developing countries, especially in remote locations to monitor cervical health.

Usually, doctors use pap smears  to monitor cervical health.
