People who wish to leave and go out of town during the winter break and are unsure of where to leave the elderly have an answer in the form of home care .
This was put forth by Hamilton care providers.Calls by HealthCare Providers New Zealand chief executive Martin Taylor for a review of respite care funding have been backed by Neil Farnworth, of New Zealand's first division of Home Instead Senior Care.
Funding options needed to be reconsidered as demand for respite care in aged facilities peaked at this time of year, said Mr. Taylor
The point was agreed upon by Mr. Farnworth who added that the pressure on rest care homes to keep beds full meant the need to reassess funding for home-based care had never been greater.
In his words, "The care offered by companies like ours is more affordable than most people think, without the stress of having to move a relative to an unfamiliar care facility. As the population ages, traditional views on where people are cared for need to adjust and so does the funding model."
