New proposals by All-Wales Palliative Care Planning Group call for regular inspections of care homes and hospices.
The report says that core-funded multi-disciplinary teams including social workers and welfare support workers must work together in order to achieve better partnerships between health and social services.Some of the other proposals mooted include 24-hour helpline and “24/7 specialist support and advice” for people who have a life-limiting condition. It also says that although care in most home sis good, there is a necessary to frame a standard to overcome staff shortages.
The Minister for Health and Social Services, Edwina Hart is due to respond to the report before the Welsh Assembly.
