Center has asked Uttar Pradesh for a daily report on the control measures taken for the bird flu outbreak in Amethi district.
In the awake of bird flu outbreak in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh, the Union agriculture ministry has asked the state to intensify the surveillance to prevent the spread of infection and submit a daily report on the control and containment operations. India officially informed the Paris-based Organization of Animal Health (OIE) about the avian flu outbreak in Amethi. According to an official statement, the state has been asked formally to notify the disease outbreak for control and containment measures as per action plan on Avian Influenza and requisite information including provisional poultry population, numbers and names of villages in 1 to 10 radii from the epicenter.
The statement said, a daily report on the control and containment measures has to be submitted the department of animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries.
As a precautionary measure in recent days, the Uttar Pradesh government has culled hundreds of hens, ducks and pigeons in Amethi, to stop the spread of the disease. A control room number 0522-2351159 has been set up for people to lodge complaints related to avian flu.
