According to the information released from the state health officials, Chandipura virus causes primary symptoms like loose motions, vomiting with high grade for short duration followed by convulsions. The virus spreads through a pest called sandfly, which commonly inhabits cracks in walls.
Officials said the sandflies were commonly seen in mud houses that had cow dung plastered to walls. They added that insecticides are being sprayed by the Malaria control department as a precautionary measure.
