Cheap medicines available on the internet contain banned ingredients which increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Guild president Kos Sclavos said that while people may save 80-90 percent when buying some medicines online while there is a great danger that the medicines could be counterfeit. Mr Sclavos said that the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has received a number of reports of counterfeit medicines being bought online.
“Consumers of counterfeit medicines risk unexpected or potentially serious adverse reactions and also suffer harm from leaving a serious medical condition untreated or inappropriately treated”, a TGA spokeswoman said.
