A 37-year-old London pub chef admits to having sex with woman as lay dying.
A London pub chef admitted to having had sex with a teen model as she lay dying of stab wounds.
Actually Mark Dixie, 37, is charged with having stabbed her to death. He was high on cocaine at the time. But Dixie denies he had anything to do with the knife attack.Defence counsel told the jury Monday: 'It is, you may think, a very unattractive defence.
'He did not know she was dead until intercourse was concluded.
'Even though you may think his conduct is disgusting, he allowed his lust to get the better of him.'
Police say Mark Dixie, a convicted sex offender, pounced upon Sally Anne Bowman right outside her home in Surrey as she was returning after a night out on Sep.25, 2005.
The force of the attack was so powerful that the blade of the knife passed through the 18-year-old's neck and abdomen, the Old Bailey heard.
And as she lay dying, he raped her. Dixie then dragged her body behind a skip.
Neighbours heard screams at the time of the attack at 4 am. One told police she saw a man 'acting furtively' and heard the sound of something being dragged along the road.
It was not until 6.30am, however, that the victim was found in a pool of blood. She had been stabbed seven times. Her handbag and underwear have never been found.
Dixie's DNA was found on the body, as were his fingerprints. There were four bite marks on the victim's upper body and face.
The court heard that Miss Bowman dreamed of gracing the front cover of Vogue magazine and had already been approached by a model agency.
The 'lively and happy girl' was working as a hairdresser at the time of her death.
Earlier that night, the court heard, Dixie had been drinking with friends after a camping trip in Kent.
The Streatham-born father-of-three, described as a recreational drug user, had snorted several lines of cocaine.
Police have recovered a video of Dixie performing a lewd sex act on the six-month anniversary of the model's death, the court heard.
Dixie was convicted in 1988 of indecent assault and actual bodily harm after attacking a Jehovah's Witness.
He punched the mother-of-three to the ground before indecently assaulting her.
He has also been accused of stabbing and sexually assaulting a Thai student in Perth, Western Australia, in 1998, the court was told.
The Thai woman told the court of her terrifying ordeal when she was stabbed and raped ten years ago in Australia.
She had flown in from her native Thailand to be a witness in Dixie's trial and gave evidence from behind a screen. She cannot be identified for legal reasons.
A 20-year-old student at the time, she was knifed eight times in the back, jaw and neck by a masked intruder.
As she lost consciousness, the man forced her to the floor and raped her before leaving her for dead.
The attacker in the 1998 assault, which had striking similarities to the murder of Sally Anne, was never found and no one has ever been charged.
But when Dixie was arrested last year for Sally Anne's murder, his DNA discovered on her body was was found to be a match with the semen found on the Thai victim, the court heard.
Giving evidence for the first time Monday, the pub chef told how he was addicted to prostitutes and gambling.
He said he used prostitutes at least once or twice a week when he had won money at casinos whilst living in Australia.
Speaking slowly with a South London accent, he said: 'I was a young, free single 25-26-year-old.
'I would go out socialising just outside Perth or go to a casino with friends, or go out for dinner or go out drinking and visiting massage parlours, brothels. Lads' night out, we'd have a laugh.'
However, he denied the attack on the Thai girl, claiming that the student might have been working at one of the massage parlours he frequented.
He said: 'The only explanation I can give is that either I picked her up or that she was a working girl.
'I could not honestly say that I recognise her.'
He also denied indecently assaulting a Jehovah's Witness 20 years ago. The court had heard that he punched and throttled the mother of three in a violent sex attack in Plumstead, South-East London.
Dixie said he lashed out after the woman said he was to blame for his baby son's death but added: 'There was no sexual assault at all as far as I am concerned.'
But he later pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and indecent assault.
The trial continues.
