A person from Chennai is being screened for a possibly carrying the Ebola virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) informed that he had travelled on the same flight in which an Ebola virus patient was travelling from Monrovia to Lagos.
Doctors, however, have dismissed fears about the person carrying the Ebola virus and say that he will be discharged soon after screening.
Dr Ragunathan, who was screening the person, told ANI, "One person, travelling from Guinea, reached Chennai yesterday to see his ailing father. Right now, he is showing no symptoms. As per protocol, we have screened him and taken his blood sample which has been sent to Pune for tests. Otherwise he is healthy and will be discharged shortly."
Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had also said, "This Indian passenger is back in India. He has been tracked and his health is being regularly monitored. We are happy to share that the said person is healthy, fit and fine."
Dr Raghunathan also added that Ebola is spread through bodily fluids and best way to contain it is to isolate the patient and avoid physical contact with infected persons. He also emphasized on physical hygiene in keeping the disease at bay.
