An ingredient present in chilli peppers could be the next key substance in combating the rising rates of obesity following a research conducted by a Japanese food company.
Dihydrocapsiate (DHC) which is present in chilli peppers was found to increase the rate of metabolism in the body though the extract is found in a particular type of chilli known as CH-19 sweet.

The research, conducted by Tokyo based Ajinomoto, also revealed that unlike other chilli extracts, DHC does not produce any burning sensation in the stomach and has no taste or odor. Since DHC is found in very minute quantity, Ajinomoto revealed that it will be producing the extract synthetically.

“Increasing the body's metabolism to burn more calories can be as important as diet and exercise. But it should be used as one piece of the overall weight management equation”, Ajinomoto spokeswoman Naoko Obara said.
