It will be valid for 30 days and open to people aged between 3 and 70. It will cost 88 yuan ($11) and compensation will include 10,000 yuan ($1,250) in hospital charges in areas with high altitude.

The policy comes hot on the heels of the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, which has resulted in more tourist visiting the high-altitude region and an increase in altitude sickness cases.

According to a research, 30 percent of all visitors to Tibet suffer from headaches, vomiting or breathing problems.
