Jagdish Chander Jetli, a RTI applicant, has sought reasons as to why AIIMS allowed a private surgeon to conduct Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's cardiac surgery at the hospital despite having the expertise and the facilities to do so on its own.
Jetli revealed that the response from AIIMS was vague and appealed at the Central Information Commission, which has now asked the hospital to clarify why Dr Ramakant Panda and his team from Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai was asked to perform the surgery.Information Commissioner Annapurna Dixit said that AIIMS must release this information to the appellant by June 20.
