Jairam Ramesh on Monday clarified that 'Mission Green India' would be included in the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) that would enhance the ecosystem.

In a written reply to lawmakers N.K. Singh and Jayanthi Natarajan, Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment, Jairam Ramesh made it clear that government has not announced any separate plan for Himalayan states for conserving forests.

Answering another question raised by lawmakers Alka Kshatriya and Shobhana Bhartia, Ramesh informed the Rajya Sabha, that both India and China have jointly agreed to conduct research on the impact of global warming on glaciers in the Himalayan and Tibetan regions.

"Both the countries have signed an Agreement on cooperation on addressing climate change that covers, inter-alia, cooperation in observation and monitoring of climate change and undertaking mutually cooperative activities and programs as appropriate," he said.

Ramesh added that India has not taken up the matter of the melting of Himalayan Glaciers with other affected neighbouring countries.
