Scientists have decided to put a hold on the Swiss clinical trials of Ebola vaccine from NewLink and Merck, where some volunteers reported joint pains. Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, said that they were set to begin procurement of the vaccine as soon as the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended a vaccine for use.
Ebola outbreak has been responsible for death of more than 6000 people in West Africa, and doses of Ebola vaccine may be needed in millions to help put an end to the current epidemic, and also prevent future outbreaks.
