Reports that nitrous oxide is being sold to party goers at night clubs has prompted authorities to issue a warning to organizers and nightclub owners to refrain from such acts, lest they risk facing serious charges or even prosecution.
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and the Local Authorities Co-coordinators of Regulatory Services have begun informing all councils in the United Kingdom about this problem. The councils have been asked to warn the clubs, festival organizers and bars against the sale of nitrous oxide for recreational drug use. Doing so is against the law and will be liable for prosecution.The long-term inhalation of laughing gas can have permanent health implications. The brain gets deficient in oxygen which explains the feeling of high, which could lead to injury to the brain. There are immense risks if the gas is inhaled in combination with alcohol or drugs.
