Commuting to work seems to take up a lot of time for women, leaving them much more stressed out than men. Those with pre-school children are doubly stressed out , the study revealed. The pressure on women is manifold due to child care and other domestic work.
Prof Jennifer Roberts, author of the report in the Journal of Health Economics, said: “Food shopping and dropping off children reduce flexibility. These time constraints makes commuting stressful in a way that it wouldn’t be otherwise.”
