The Australian Divisions of General Practice and Australian Medical Association have controversial views over Productivity Commission report on referral of physicians to specialist.
The Productivity Commission of Australia has recommended a report which makes possible the patients to directly consult a Medicare funded consultation with out referral from the physician.
The Australian Divisions of General Practice (ADGP) has welcomed the report as they feel that the move will help to reduce the time for the patients in reaching a specialist and a consultation straightly with the specialist will help the present situation as there is a great shortage of physicians in Australia.Australian Medical Association (AMA) which is a representation of General physicians is not happy with the committee reports as they feel that allowing ptients to directly consult a specialist without General practioners referral would not help in understanding correctly the status and severity of the disease of the patient.
