If confessing one’s sins can create a better connection with God, what better way to do it in this internet generation than with a new App. It appears that your iPad or iPhone can actually bring you closer to God. A new application by a team from the company Little iApps has been designed with a purpose to assist Roman Catholics who have not gone to the confessional both for sometime and wish to keep a check on their sins.
Of course, forgiveness for one’s sins can only be granted by a priest but this app can lead a person in the path of repentance and accountability. “There’s a reason we designed it for these mobile devices - We want you to go to confession,” said Patrick Leinen, one of the developers.
The text-based app helps the user go through the Ten Commandments along with questions which target the conscience, just like a real-life confession.
The app lists out the sins and throws up a prayer after which the user is taken through the rest of the steps.
A spokesman from the church said that only a priest is permitted to hear a confession and cannot be substituted by any computer application. A believer can of course use a mobile device to prepare for a confession just like the use of pen and paper to list down important points.
