THE doctor, Amjad Husien, working at the Trafford General center apologized today for all the distress and suffering of his patients. He was accused of misreporting the breast cancer scans, which led to twenty-two women being given the all-safe and fine decision. But now seventeen of those women are very serious because their treatment was delayed by up to two years.
All this happened when Dr Husien worked at the Trafford General from 2003 and North Manchester General from 2004.A spokeswoman for Trafford General said that Dr Husien is taking home his full salary (£75,000/ year). Dr Husien's colleagues first raised concerns about his work months before he was suspended.
But when it was checked his works were satisfactory. Again issues were raised against his work, which led to the full investigation in to the matter. Dr Husian had qualified in Baghdad, Iraq, (1977) before studying in Scotland.
He previously worked at the Stockport's Stepping Hill Hospital before he shifted to Trafford Healthcare Trust.
The General Medical Council has been informed about the incident and is awaiting the results of the next inquiry. Then they will decide on the action to be taken.
David Cain, the chief executive of Trafford Healthcare Trust said that all the necessary measures are taken by the trust to check on the consultant's standards and methods of practice.
