CSIRO recommended diet contains more red meat than recommended levels which may lead to colorectal cancer reports Dr. Rosemary Stanton, Nutritionist.
Total Wellbeing Diet recommended by Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) may increase the risk of colorectal cancer reports Dr. Rosemary Stanton, Nutritionist. Dr. Stanton has asked the Australian Prime Minister John Howard to review the risks involved in recommending CSIRO diet as it contains high amount of red meat. Dr. Stanton wants to recommend the Australian Governments Australian Guide to Healthy Eating protocol which offers better carbohydrates and proteins and less red meat compared to CSIRO diet.
Dr. Stanton has shown evidence from a study “European Prospective study” that eating more than 160 gram of red meat per day may increase the risk of bowel cancer. But, CSIRO reports that colorectal cancer is not related to red meat but may be linked to obesity and lack of exercise rather than red meat.
