After the discovery of a new mutant COVID-19 strain in Britain, a new strain was also detected in Australia and Italy. India announced a temporary ban on flights coming from the UK till 11.59 p.m. on December 31 and the suspension commenced from 11.59 p.m. on December 22.
This was reported by Anna Popova, head of the country's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor.
