A 16-month-old boy, who woke up from coma after receiving a hug from his mother, has started taking his first steps, according to reports. Adam Cheshire slipped into a coma one day after his birth after he suffered from a brain infection that led to seizures. His parents Charlotte and Chris Cheshire from Telford, Shropshire were told to say their final goodbyes to their son by doctors who held out little hope for his survival.
However, in what is being hailed as a miracle, Adam started moving about after a cuddle from his mother.
"For a number of days, I was only allowed to gently stroke Adam's leg or arm before they encouraged me to hold and cuddle him,” Mrs Cheshire told the Daily Telegraph. "They told me skin-to-skin contact is very important. Your baby needs to know you are there. Adam is our miracle. He just refused to give up."
