Cycle Rally in Chennai, South India Creates Awareness on Stem Cell Donation
DATRI, a blood stem cell donor’s registry, organized a cycling rally to create awareness on blood stem cell donation.
The rally was flagged-off by Lakshmi Narayanan, vice-chairman of Cognizant. Raghu Rajagopal, co-founder DATRI, pointed out that it is an irony that for a country like India, with a population of over a billion, there were very few registered blood stem cell donors. "With increasing cases of fatal blood disorders, there is an increasing need for more donors," he said.

Vimal Fernandes, a donor, who participated in the rally said, "This donation offers a lot of benefit for people who are in need of a matching blood stem cell. It can give life to someone suffering from a fatal blood disorders."

DATRI has more than 93,000 registered voluntary donors, and has facilitated 110 Peripheral Blood Stem Cell (PBSC) donations.
