'Sex And The City' star Cynthia Nixon secretly battled breast cancer two years ago.
Nixon, who is 42-years-old and who is best known for her role as neurotic Manhattan attorney Miranda Hobbes in the TV series, spoke about her ordeal with ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday Apr 15."I had a lumpectomy and then I had six and a half weeks of radiation," New York Daily News quoted her as telling "Good Morning America".
Nixon had been diagnosed with the disease in 2006 while starring in the off-Broadway play "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" and she kept her condition a secret, even scheduling her surgery on a Sunday, to avoid missing a performance.
"I didn't really want to make it public while I was going through it. I didn't want paparazzi at the hospital, that kind of thing," Nixon, who admitted she was "scared", said.
"I thought, 'Oh, I don't want this to be happening.' I was very cognizant of if it's going to happen, this is the best way for it to happen, that it's found so early and we can just get right on it," she revealed.
The Emmy Award winning actress revealed that her mother Ann had battled cancer twice, 30 years earlier.
