The New Tie-Up Will Allow People To Avail Of Diagnostic Facilities Including Consultation With Doctors Of Apollo Hospitals Through Video Links.

DeitY of Government of India, Apollo Hospitals Joins Hands for Telemedicine Services
The department of electronics and information technology (DeitY), of Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India, has tied up with Apollo Tele Health Services to offer telemedicine services in the country.
Apollo Tele Health Services is a part of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited is aimed at providing healthcare to rural patients using telemedicine.

Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies to provide clinical health care at a distance.

The new tie-up will allow people to avail of diagnostic facilities including consultation with doctors of Apollo Hospitals through video link, and facilitate sale of generic drugs online. The facility will be provided with a total of 60,000 common service centres (CSCs) under DeitY.

CSCs, which fall under the national e-governance plan, are an essential component of the 'Digital India' drive, which helps rural areas get connected to the internet and avail of e-governance services.
