New Delhi reports fifty-nine fresh cases of swine flu, taking the total number of cases to 3,586 this season. “There was one swine flu death on Saturday here,” said Dr Rajpal, medical superintendent, Safdarjung Hospital.
“No death was reported from Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday. Of the 259 samples tested on Monday, 59 tested positive for swine flu virus,” said a senior Directorate of Health Services (DHS) official.
The DHS claims that the situation is under control but the capital had complaints of non-availability of drugs few weeks ago, which poses a question on the preparedness of the health department to tackle the situation.
Also, the state health department of Assam has asked the joint directors of the 27 districts to take stock of the situation and implement confirmatory action like reserving a dedicated ambulance for ferrying swine flu patients and maintaining sufficient reserves of Tamiflu (Oseltamivir).
