by Tanya Thomas on Oct 14 2009 8:31 AM

Female employees at the computer company Dell are mentoring senior male colleagues in a bid to introduce them to female perceptions of the world of work and the daily challenges faced by them.

Dell, the computer major, is getting its female employees to mentor senior male colleagues in a bid to introduce them to female perceptions of the world of work and the daily challenges faced by them.

The scheme forms a wider project designed to help women get into the top positions in the IT sector.

"Women get to a certain point in their careers when they have to juggle both home and work life and there's a lot of extra pressure on them," the New Zealand Herald quoted a Dell official as saying.

Ingrid Devin, Dell's diversity manager for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, said: "The feedback from the men was great.

"They realised that they have a lot to learn about the challenges that women face in the workplace, especially learning how to do the 'right thing'."
