An Irish research team has developed an online diagnostic calculator called as the ‘Cork-Southampton calculator’, which promises 96% accuracy in detecting food allergy and may soon replace conventional methods of ascertaining food allergy. The results of the online allergy calculator is available in a few seconds. This tool is the brain-child of Dr.Audrey Dunn Galvin and Professor Jonathan Hourihane of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health , University College Cork. The specialists have used a mathematical model to reveal children's vulnerabililty to common food allergens - peanuts, eggs and milk, and is a shot in the arm for Doctors to treat children with food allergy.
