Diabetes Linked To Consumption Of Soft Drinks

A recent study indicates the negative impact of soft drinks on health.

A recent study indicates the negative impact of soft drinks on health. Dr. Kelly Brownell from the Yale University in Connecticut says that consumption of sugary soft drinks lead to poor nutrition, obesity, diabetes and a host of other illnesses.

Brownell and his team after having researched 88 studies on this topic support a ban on the consumption of these soft drinks. The research team analyzed 91,000 women over a period of 8 years and concluded that there is a clear link between soft drinks and health.

It was found that women who drink the sweetened sodas are more prone to diabetes than women who consume diet sodas. It is also revealed that the regular intake of sweetened soda results in reduced consumption of milk, calcium, fruits, vegetables and important nutrients.

Brownell also added that when a study is funded by a soft drink company it is sure to tilt the balance in its favour. He advocates banning of sodas in schools to facilitate better health among children.
