The principal secretary (health) Arvind Kumar has issued orders to make free, both fasting and post prandial (PP) blood sugar tests in all state hospitals.
The number of diabetes cases are rising in Uttar Pradesh. A recent study by eminent diabetologists had suggested that the menace of diabetes is catching up very fast in the state, cutting across age groups. In view if this, the state government has ordered free tests for the disease in all state hospitals. While 100 pathological tests were already free for the poor at all state hospitals, orders have now been issued to make free, both fasting and post prandial (PP) blood sugar tests. An order to this effect was issued by the principal secretary (health) Arvind Kumar.
This new order comes after an amendment was made in the earlier order where only one test, fasting, was free of cost.
