More than 141 million biscuits packets were sold in UK last year with Digestive biscuits leading the way after being voted the most popular biscuit in Britain. Over 17 million Digestive biscuit packets were sold, amounting to over 12 percent of total number of biscuit packets sold while the American style cookie came in second place followed by jam rings and chocolate fingers.
Jam rings were more popular in Scotland, Wales and in northwest while those in the north preferred fig roll.
The poll was conducted by supermarket chain, Sainsbury’s with biscuit developer Claire Goldhill stating that their biscuit aisle is one of the busiest.
