The World Diabetes Day is observed on November 14 in order to create awareness related to Diabetes, which is a group of diseases with one thing in common - a problem with insulin, and has reached epidemic proportions.

As a part of the World Diabetes Day, a walk is being organized in Madurai on November 14. The walk will begin at 7.30 am from IMA hall, Panagal road and end at the Government Rajaji Hospital auditorium. Eminent doctors will be addressing the participants on this occasion.

The rewards of good diabetic control in terms of improved quality of life and reduced medical expenses are immense and far outweigh the cost of regular sugar testing and medications.

In a press release Global Diabetes Walk said that professors of the Department of Diabetology, Madurai Medical College, members of the Madurai branch of the Diabetes Association of India and Indian Medical Association, doctors of Madurai, members of the Walkers Club and Joggers Club and diabetic patients are participating in this event.

The event is being coordinated and organized by Dr K Kannan, president, Diabetic Association of India, Dr Asirvatham, head of the Department of Diabetology, GRH and Novo Nordisk, business manager, Vasudevan.
