The government has planned to distribute contraceptives at the doorstep in 266 districts according to the recent announcement by The Union minister for health and family welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad. This is an effort by the government to give an impetus to population control efforts.
"We have chosen 266 high-focus districts and the ministry will be directly distributing the contraceptives, both male and female, to the block level officials (free of cost)," Azad said.
Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) will be given the task of distribution of contraceptives.
