Memantine hydrochloride tablets in the strengths of 5 mg and 10 mg are launched after getting the approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
The generic Memantine hydrochloride tablets used for treatment of dementia of the Alzheimer's type have been launched by the pharmaceutical company Dr Reddy's Laboratories in the US market. The company has launched the tablets in the strengths of 5 mg and 10 mg after getting the approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), said Dr Reddy's Laboratories in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The tablets are generic versions of Merz Pharma GmbH & Co KGaA's Namenda tablets, it added.
"The Namenda (memantine HCl) tablets brand had US sales of approximately USD 1.4 billion MAT for the most recent twelve months ending in May 2015, according to IMS Health," said Dr Reddy's Laboratories.
The company's tablets in the 5 mg strength are available in the bottle count size of 60 and and 10 mg strength tablets are available in bottle count sizes of 60 and 500, it added. Shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories today closed at Rs 3,758.75 per scrip on the BSE, up 0.44 percent from its previous close.
