The Global Health Program, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates, scheduled to commence in June, has acquired a new Executive Director, according to the Gates foundation Release. Dr Tadataka Yamada, Chair of Research and Development at GlaxoSmithKline, will now lead the program.
Yamada’s key portfolio will focus on driving the foundation’s Vaccination Initiatives while also working on enhancing the availability of drugs to fight diseases such as Aids, tuberculosis and Malaria, in the developing countries.Bill Gates, co-chair of the foundation, said, "Melinda and I are thrilled to have someone with Dr. Yamada's breadth of experience leading the foundation's work on global health," adding, 'He's organized the best talent around big challenges, knows what it takes to bring promising science from the lab to people in need and understands how to engage new partners'
