Doctors in Manitoba, Canada, can now access details of their patients online after the province launched a new electronic health-record system
Doctors in Manitoba, Canada, can now access details of their patients online after the province launched a new electronic health-record system that has been in development over the past three years. Known as eChart, the system will allow doctors to not only access their patient’s medical history, but also bring up their past drug prescriptions and lab results.
eChart was unveiled at the Kildonan Medical Centre at Seven Oaks General Hospital with Health Minister Theresa Oswald stating that it will be made available in 30 hospitals and clinics in the province by July of this year.
“As more sites become linked to eChart, it will be possible for a person's key health information to travel with them to different health providers across the province”, Oswald said.
