The Worldwide Fund for Nature's (WWF) global campaign has initiated a campaign called 'Earth Hour' wherein they have appealed to people to switch off lights for an hour on March 26 between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. This 'Earth Hour' is a part of collective action on climate change. They have requested the residents and businesses to voluntarily switch off all the non-essential lights on that day. So far this is the largest environmental campaign in the history of our planet.
World famous landmarks like Acropolis in Greece, Eiffel Tower in Paris, Hiroshima Peace Gardens in Japan, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Colosseum in Rome, the Coca Cola billboard in New York's Times Square, Sydney Opera House and Pyramids in Egypt will also switch off the lights in support of this campaign.
