Eden Medical Center makes major cuts in cost covered elective surgeries

Following low reimbursements of funds Eden Medical Center has finalized its decision to call off its program to provide elective cost covered in-patient services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries

Following low reimbursements of funds Eden Medical Center a health affiliate with campuses in Castro Valley and San Leandro has finalized its decision to call off its program to provide elective cost covered in-patient services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries hitherto made available through the California Medical Assistance Commission.

This would formally affect about 2% of patients who will now be referred to various other hospitals for specific services informed the hospital spokes person.

Patients coming to the hospital for emergency care, labor or delivery (even C-sections) or psychiatric care will be exempted from this decision. However elective surgeries like hip and knee replacements will no more be provided by the hospital said a spokes person categorically.

Apparently the Eden Medical Center is falling short by 5-6 million$ in its attempt to cover medical costs which has forced the board to come to such a decision.
