Effort on to Focus on Brain Cancer Research

While cancer research has been progressing by leaps and bounds in recent years, much attention has not been paid to brain cancer.

While cancer research has been progressing by leaps and bounds in recent years, much attention has not been paid to brain cancer. This is the reason why Cancer Council along, with Clinical Neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo is working hard to raise the profile of this cancer among the public as well as the research community.

A new national fund raising and advocacy group, Brain Cancer Research Advocates, is hoping to persuade doctors and researchers to contribute bankable tumors with them so as to increase the knowledge about this deadly tumor.

The new advocacy group aims to raise $700,000 per year over a five year period. This will help fund 6 research nurses across Australia.

Brain cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer in children and most patients die within 6 months of diagnosis.
